Self-Portrait

I frame the world in a vignette
black and white and faded at the edges
too blind to see outside
its center
too untried to see all of it
at once.
I’m green as a child painted in vernix
and my world fits inside
a frame on a wall;
I blink at it
squint and blink and over and over
hoping the image
might change
or its corners
might focus
or my world might decide
it’s green
